His summer had been interesting cooped up in his house with all his fathers books. The natural long days of summer did not seem to shorten the amount of time his father spent at Gringotts. As for his mother her calendar was unnaturally full as part of him going to school last year had meant his mother had found something other than being around the house.
He was happy for his mother, and thought some of her tea buddies were nice. Well at least when they were not pinching his cheeks. He also learned over the summer the fine art of drinking tea and how to hold his cup correctly in multiple situations. Not that those lessons were the reason he had a tea cup inside his cauldron that also held more than a few supplies.
Looking around the Attic he realized it was probably one of the taller places around Hogwarts. Which would be good as this potion worked best the higher one was. If he could have managed to fly his broom in a straight enough line towards the mountains on the horizon he might have tried it. However flying in a straight line or mostly in general still was a challenge for him.
Taking out his things pouring water from a bottle into the teacup and putting some leaves joining it to the side. He heard steps behind him, not unexpected as he had mentioned to his friend Cutebabys that he would be up here making a potion that his friend might find interesting. Though he had for good reason not mentioned what it was as the potion was definitely something out of a book that if it were in Hogwarts would be in the restricted section.
Devin said " So you came. Don't worry I doubt you will be disappointed unless this fails. Then you might want to run and pretend you were not here. " The last bit his voice went from his usual confidence to being slightly unsure.

“Course I did. What kind of friend would I be, not to look after you?” he asked teasingly. He knew Devin didn’t need to be looked after, but he couldn’t help but to annoy him. Then he peered at the teacup. “Why a teacup?” he asked, curious. Out of so many other things Devin could have used, he used a teacup. He looked at the ingredients. Cutebabys was pretty good at Potions himself, but he had never seen some of the ingredients used for this potion. He didn’t ask, however, as he simply assumed Devin would explain himself when the time was ripe.
He heard the uncertainness in his friend’s voice. “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine,”he said, trying to comfort Devin. He, too, hoped that it would work. Devin didn’t take Potions last year so Cutebabys had no idea how good, or bad, he was at it.
“How did your holidays go?”Cutebabys asked. He hadn’t had a chance to properly catch up with Devin yet. As he asked that question, he hoped that Devin wouldn’t ask about his holidays. But yet, that seemed to be inevitable and he regretted asking Devin that question.

Devin smiled when his friend said he would look after him. He definitely did not want want his friend thinking he needed looking after but it was much better than being competition with Cutebabys in that department. After all of the two of them he was sure more first years got nervous due to his friend.
Devin said " The teacup? Most people naturally associate a similarity between potions and herbology or even magical creatures. Considering the number of plants and animal parts that are typical ingredients it makes sense. However I was reading the most interesting books over the summer about divination. "
He was a Slytherin and his family was a rather old pureblood family that sorta blended in the background. Though this may be true his family was a bit more open-minded about the dark arts and this potion was definitely one of them. After all it truly makes one believe they experienced a vision until they take a counter-potion. Naturally he brewed the counter potion over the summer and had it in his dorm. However the actual potion was much more difficult, and it required an ingredient or two from the forest.
Devin said " What do you see in the leaves of the teacup? I see nothing but I was never good in divination." with a slight shrug. His friend was smart and he was really hoping his friend knew something about Divination as considering how important a clue about it might be for this potion it would be handy. Not that he had any intention of drinking the potion, or had any intention of his friend drinking it either.
Devin said " I got alot of reading done over the summer. you? "

Cutebabys nodded. “So that’s why… I was finding it a little strange,” he commented about the reason why his friend used teacups.
Cutebabys looked at Devin. Divination. The only subject Cutebabys didn’t take, other than muggle studies. His parents believed it was a load of junk; they allowed Cutebabys to take it if he wanted to, but it was clear they discouraged him from doing so. He, too, had no interest for divinations; he found it boring and useless. Not to mention he found it like a fraud. So he hated it and he was lousy at it. “I don’t see anything either,” he admitted. “I’m not too great at divinations.” For him to admit this showed how deep their friendship went.
He nodded at the question about reading. “I think I finished my father’s library!” he said. This was an obvious exaggeration; his father’s library was huge. Not that he was allowed inside so his reading time was limited. However he managed to sneak in a few times, bringing back books into his room. His father didn’t find out yet.
“Wish you took Transfigurations, professor’s being a downright pain in the ass,” Cutebabys said. Cutebabys didn’t usually call people names, or if he did, he didn’t say it out loud. He merely thought it. But this was different; it was true. In one day, he had gotten a detention and a headmistress’ referral. Not that he didn’t deserve it, maybe saying what he had was a bit too much. A bit was an understatement.

It was strange, however everything he read about divination was strange. He had hoped his friend knew about divination, but it was not surprising that Cutebabys did not waste his time with it. As Cutebabys was rather smart and in Devin's opinion divination was rubbish. Rubbish that if this potion had not looked that interesting he would have never even picked up a book on the subject. As faking a vision could be rather interesting. Mostly as he wondered what other people would fake.
Devin said " Don't worry what little I can tell from divination it is mostly rubbish. " with a smile. As he figured that he should mention that to his friend. Mostly as he knew how much Cutebabys valued his wealth of knowledge. As was demonstrated by reading his fathers library. Devin said " I'm sorry to hear that, if you want I can send you some books from my families. Though they would be the more boring ones naturally, but interesting none the less." As he realized he would be rather upset if he finished his library at home.
Devin said " Sorry figured you caught that memo last year. He is the reason I am not taking it. Though I must admit if he teaches anything interesting I would be curious. However I think he is a bit sloppy for that to happen. " As he remembered meeting Sith and Black last year. A memory that was a rather interesting night. Devin added " Sorry your stuck there?" As he looked into the cup again. Apparently he would have to look up whatever was in the cup or take the risk that it was unimportant.
Taking the cauldron he readied it for making the potion. Then started adding the first few ingredients to the cauldron and the water from a container he had. Then he pointed his wand at the cauldron and after two tries of incendio there was a small fire underneath it.
OCC: I am sorry been really busy lately and it will probably continue.

[OOC: No problem, I’m kinda busy myself with the exams and all.]
Cutebabys nodded. “I think so too. Divination is just a load of crap, if you don’t mind me saying so,” he replied, smiling too. “Well, I didn’t really finish reading the whole library; I finished reading the books my father lets me. But I do sneak in now and then, ya know? Take a few books here and there…” Cutebabys gave a nonchalant shrug.
“Well, I did. My parents want me to take it. I have to take every class – don’t ask me why. Or rather, I take every class they find useful. That excludes divination and muggle studies. Of course, I do read up on muggles now and then, but not divination. I agree with my parents on that one,” Cutebabys replied.
“Though I must admit if he teaches anything interesting I would be curious. However I think he is a bit sloppy for that to happen. " Devin said. Cutebabys smiled, remembering what had happened during the first lesson. “Well, I think that too. I got sent to the headmistress’ office plus I got a detention for saying that.” He grinned. “But…I was merely stating the truth!”
Cutebabys took out his wand to help Devin do the spell when he saw the other boy couldn’t do it on the first try. After two, however, Devin succeeded and Cute was too slow. “Oh yeah…you didn’t tell me what potion you’re making.”
“It’ll begin to snow soon; do you want to make a sled with me?” he asked Devin.

Devin was thankful his parents did not really seem to pay attention to what exactly he was taking. They cared more about the quality of the grades and the amount he learned over the course of the year. With his choice of taking few classes as a first year a lesson for this one as well as he felt he learned as much or more than people who filled their schedules. Or at least he learned more things worth while which was all that mattered.
Devin said " My parents let me choose so I only take a few actual classes. I found I prefer independent study as classes don't matter till Owl year anyways. " Or at least he hoped that classes did not matter till Owl year as he was currently taking the minimum allowed. A minimum found out by observing how few classes the dumber students seemed to be forced into, and choosing that number. After all dumb students had to graduate too, and no one expects the one who is not there to beat them. Which was exactly what he was planning to do.
Devin said " I lost a couple of points, and was probably close to hexing him on our first meeting. Black stopped that though and probably for the better as I can only imagine I would still be in the wing, and that was last year. " It was the first time he mentioned that meeting of Black to anyone. As odd as it was, even though he knew he could not mention any more of that night. Though he imagined what he saw that night even though it was the past would probably be as convincing as what someone would see from the potion he was making.
Devin realized he had not told Cutebabys what he was making. Mostly as he could not pronounce the name of the potion and considering he had found at least three separate names that was saying something. Though he was not really making any of them but more of a combination of them. He just hoped it and the counter potion worked well together. Devin said " The name is rather unimportant, mostly as I cannot pronounce it." as he pointed to a part of his notes.
Not that his notes held much besides the name and some false information about Divination in case he got caught. Devin continued and said " It is a potion to make someone believe they had a vision. Rather similar to the experience a seer has when they see something except well it is false."
A sled like one of those things Dorcas was talking about earlier in the year. Trying to remember that conversation he remembered of the choices the sled was better. Devin said " Sounds like fun. Though we should probably figure out what will slide well before it snows. " As Devin was always one to be prepared no matter what it was.

"Well, every class I take I already know what is going to be learnt inside," Cutebabys said, then bit his lip in thought. "I think... I think I shall try muggle studies this term." It was already quite deep into the term and many classes must have started already, though. However, this prevented his father from knowing. If only he could find a way to not let his parents know he had been taking it. By the time they knew, it would be too late, he would have finished the term already. Even if it meant a beating, Cutebabys was determined to learn something new for once.
Cutebabys laughed darkly. "I lost twenty, but go on," he said when Devin said he lost some points. "Black?" he asked. "What did he do?" Cutebabys wasn't sure if he should ask this. Knowing Devin for more than a year, he knew when his friend was uncomfortable about saying things and when not. Devin didn't look too comfortable about saying it. Actually, Black had helped Cutebabys too; arguing for him with the headmistress. "Black kinda helped me too, but if he hadn't come, I might not even have gotten into trouble," he said.
Cutebabys looked at the notes. "Ah... I get why you can't pronounce it then," he said, quickly scanning the page. "Why're you... Why do you have notes on Divination?" he asked. As far as he knew, Devin didn't take the subject.
Cutebabys gaped at Devin. This was Dark magic, wasn't it? He regained his composure. "C-can you do it to seers too? Make them have false visions?" he asked.
Cutebabys nodded. "Sure, I think a sled will be fun."

Muggle studies was a class he should consider taking. However being friends with Aleera was like a walking textbook on the subject with the odd things she did. Plus there was the muggle corridors where he could look at that stuff. More hands on was the method he would learn that subject and he was sure if he visited Aleera over the summer he might see the odd muggle world.
Devin shrugged when his friend asked what Black did. Mostly as he was not going to say anything. Devin said " Sith and Black really don't get along do they. Now all one would need to do is find a way to use that." He hoped planting an idea like that in his friend's head would make him not ask more about Black. He chuckled when his friend asked him why he had notes on Divination. Normally he would not even look up the subject but this potion was too interesting to resist understanding enough divination to figure out how it might work.
Devin said " Because they may be useful. As for a seer no idea, but if one could figure out a way to control the vision doing it on a known seer could be rather powerful. " As the idea his friend managed to plan in his head made him smile. Then he looked down at his notes to see if they said anything about controling the vision. Even though that would be step two of this experiment.

Cutebabys shrugged, figuring that Devin didn't want to talk about the situation. It was good enough that he even mentioned it. In fact Cutebabys had no idea what had happened that day.
He bit his lip in thought. It would be interesting to watch them fight again. But if Black hadn't come that day Cute wouldn't have gotten detention. "Too risky - I can't risk detention again," he replied. His father didn't like him getting himself into trouble. There were many times when he was called a disappointment to the family. He was beaten every time he got into trouble. Every time he came across Sithe, he had gotten a detention. He sighed.
"It'd be more than powerful," Cute replied. A thought came across him. "Is this legal?" he asked Devin. "Can we choose what vision we want the person to see?"

Detentions were risky certainly, and something he tried to avoid. Though unlike his friend he realized that he had little to worry about unless notes were sent home. After all his parents had not even noticed how few classes he was taking, and only cared that he could answer there questions at the right time. It worked well for him as he learned much more out of class. Devin said " Best to avoid detentions, honestly I prefer losing points. " Then he regretted saying that to his housemate as it was certainly a risk to say something like that. However when it came between himself and his house he always choose himself.
Devin paused slightly as he heard his friend as if it was legal. Mostly as he was hoping his friend would not bother to ask as it was definitely in a gray area. Devin said " Depends on the application and use of it. I am just doing it for research purposes. " Which of course was absolutely true, though actually using it on someone would probably get one in trouble.
Devin said " I haven't investigated fully in controlling the visions though I suspect it is possible. Why?" Mostly as he was curious at his friends idea. Though he did have a few of his own.
